HYT shreds into the new year

The crew has been out hitting some new lines. The HatchYourTrax new years resolution? Shred. We’ve been setting tracks, laying lines and exploring as much as we can.

Abroham scouts some lines

While I always pray for more snow, the high pressure has been amazing. There’s nothing like starting your session before sunrise, making turns as the alpenglow explodes across the valleys and mountains, and closing off the days making turns long after the sun sets.

This is why we live here and this is what HatchYourTrax is all about.

Helmet cam footy from New Years Eve and the first day of the new decade.

Sorry about the lack of alternate camera angles, but our other camera is currently down for the count.

Digging for gold

On a stability note, the clear cool nights are making for some decent surface hoar. It’s great skiing now but remember this layer when it snows again. It was on every aspect, and running from the independence parking lot to the ridge tops. Some of the south facing aspects were shallow and faceted all the way to the ground.

No snow or precip in the forecast until at least Sunday night. I’m calling it: 16 mile is skied out. The bumps suck, the transitions on the jumps are worn down to rock and it just isn’t that fun. If you must ride, then go for it, it’s still better than not making turns. Both 16 and Paradise need snow. Where are the tree jibbers and jump builders?
